Objectives & Key Issues

EMOTA's objectives:

As a non-profit organisation, EMOTA's primary objective is to represent at European level online traders and multi-channel distance sellers of goods and services. Based on insightful knowledge of market realities, EMOTA engages with the European Commission, Members of the European Parliament and all other stakeholders interested in e-commerce.

EMOTA's key issues:

  • Removal of barriers to cross border trade in Europe
  • European contract law issues
  • Consumer protection regulation
  • Privacy and data protection matters
  • Postal markets liberalisation
  • Competition matters that are of concern for the distance selling sector
  • Self-regulation as a method of increasing consumer trust in e-commerce.
