Commission unveils platform to business regulation

Last month, the European Commission published new rules for online platforms, with the aim of creating a fair, transparent and predictable business environment for webshops using online platforms.

The proposal aims to:

(i) increase transparency, by requiring online platforms to include specific information in their terms and conditions which are both clear and available to webshops;

(ii) resolve disputes more effectively, by requiring online platforms to set-up an internal compliant-handling mechanism and facilitate out-of-court dispute resolution; and

(iii) set-up an EU observatory to monitor the impact of the new rules.
