DPD Germany is expanding bike deliveries

Highly satisfied with the outcome of its pilot project launched 1 year ago under the technical management of the Nuremberg Institute of Technology, DPD Germany is expanding its deliveries by electrically assisted transport bike to Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, Heilbronn, Rostock and further cities. Although it is not yet possible to operate entirely without conventional delivery vans, 80.000 parcels have so far been delivered by bike in Nuremberg. In some cases, the bikes even proved to be more efficient and manoeuvrable than large vehicles.  Five transport bikes and four conventional delivery vehicles operating jointly now cover the area of Nuremberg South which was previously served by nine conventional vans.
